Springfield, Greene County, Missouri
Margaret McELHANY Boyd was the oldest child of Robert James McElhany and Cordelia Margaret BUNCH. Her parents had come separately to Missouri from East Tennessee, Grainger Co about 1835 and 1834 respectively.
R.J. McElhany and Cordelia Bunch were married in Polk Co MO on Feb 15, 1838 and they lived in Springfield, Greene Co, Mo. They were parents of nine children, with only four living to adulthood:
Margaret Muse McElhany who married Col Sempronius Boyd*
Martha Elvira McElhany who married Homer Frank Fellows
Robert L McElhany who married Pattie D Fisher
Lucy McElhany who married Col Leonidas A Campbell
*Col Boyd and Margaret McElhany were married in Springfield on Jun 11 1855, and they were parents of three children, the first, Rufus Marcus Boyd, died in childhood. Cordelia Margaret Boyd married Thomas James Delaney on Dec 29 1880, in St Louis MO. Their third child, Dr Robert Marcus Boyd died in Stone Co MO Aug 6 1896, having served as Counsel General to Siam after his father became ill. He was unmarried.
No tombstone was found for Mrs Boyd, however the location of her final resting place has been marked by the red flower between two stones. The stone on the right is her husband, S.H. Boyd and on the left her father-in-law, Marcus Boyd.
