Notes

Jimmie Guthrie, age 39, veteran of World War II, died at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville at 6:45 a.m. July 1. He was taken from his home to the hospital by a Brashears ambulance the morning of June 30.

Mr. Guthrie had been bitten by a rabied dog about a month previous to his death and had taken the injection treatment prescribed by medical authorities. However the treatments were not begun until he had been bitten the second time by the same dog, as it was not known that the dog was afflicted with rabies at the time of the first bite which was a week previous to the second attack.

Permission has been granted by relatives to medical authorities at Veterans Hospital to perform an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.

James Gilford Guthrie was a life long resident of Madison county. He served with honor as a member of the armed forces in the Pacific Theatre during the war.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Johnnie Cook-Guthrie, his mother, Mrs. Pearl Lewis of near Huntsville, and one sister, Mrs. La Verne Eggers of Tulsa, Okla. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, except that it is known that the services will be held at the home, with burial in the Huntsville cemetery with military honors.
