Eugene Moses Dead
Eugene Moses was born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1870 and died at the family home near Porter, Sunday morning November 12, 1922, following a short illness from influenza.
He came from his native state to Arkansas in 1881 and he was a resident of that state for many years. He has a brother and sister in that state. He moved to Oklahoma in 1917 and he with his family has resided in this community since that time.
He leaves besides his mother and sister who lives at Clarksville, a wife, a son, V. E. Moses of Porter, Mrs. Clay Holloway a daughter and five younger children at home. Mr. Moses was a devoted member of the Baptist church and he lived an exemplary life.
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Marshall Dunaway who dwelt upon the unassuming Christian life of his departed friend.
Interment was made in the Porter cemetery where the I. O. O. F. order of which he was a member concluded the services by their impressive burial rites. The large number of friends who gathered to pay a last tribute to the memory of the deceased showed the love and respect in which he and his good family are held. The News joins a large concour E.O. friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
