James Carroll Sugg, of Harrison, died Tuesday, May 31 (2011) at Springfield, Mo. He was 78 years old.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Holt Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 3, at Brand New Church. Pastor Shannon O'Dell and Dr. David Artman will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Leaf Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Tucker, John O'Dell, Sr., Don Sugg, Kevin Robertson, Donald Whitaker, Steve Dardas, Mark Fultz and Jackie Austin.

The son of William Clinton and Mable Marie (Bohannon) Sugg was born on June 11, 1932, at Dry Fork.

Carroll wore a lot of hats during his career. After graduating from Green Forest High School in 1950, he joined the Air Force. During that time, he married Donna Boyd of Huntsville. He spent four years in the Air Force and four more years in the Reserves.

Carroll owned and operated a grocery in Green Forest. He also farmed, raising registered Polled Herfords, and running a poultry operation. He worked as a realtor in Harrison for several years.

During his years, Carroll was known to all as a giant of faith and lover of Christ. He served as a deacon in the Baptist Church. He had a special heart for the young married couples that attended his Sunday school classes.

Carroll loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time spent at his cabin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Raye (Boyd) Sugg, of the home; one son and his wife, Ewell Brent and Shelly Sugg; a daughter and her husband, Melinda Carol and Greg Moss; and two grandsons, David and Zach.
