Mrs. Pernina Boyd, whose long illness has been referred to in former issues of the Record, died Sunday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary J. Dotson, in this city, and her remains were interred Monday in the Bohannan Mountain cemetery. Funeral services were conducted at the home and at the cemetery by Rev. Jake Drake.
The deceased was nearly 100 years old, the exact year of her birth being uncertain, but is given as Nov. 11, 1833. She was married in 1848 to John Boyd who died several years ago. There were born to them eleven children, six of whom are living. They are Mrs. Mary J. Dodson and E. S. Boyd of Huntsville, Mrs. Sallie Elins of Fayetteville, Mrs. Elizabeth McCoy and John C. Boyd of Wesley, and Peter Boyd of Porter, Okla.
Besides the children, there are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren, together with a host of friends, who experience sorrow in the passing away of Grandmother Boyd, for notwithstanding her days of physical usefulness were over there still radiated from her daily life a beautiful influence of motherhood and friendship which will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
