Mrs. Sarah W. Rogers, age 71 years, died Sunday evening, April 19, at her home at Japton where she had resided 60 years. She was a native of Benton county. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon, 3:00 o'clock, by Rev. M. S. Gabbard at the Japton school and interment was made in the Gross cemetery, with the Nelson-Savage funeral home direction the arrangements.
Mrs. Rogers is survived by her husband, J. J. Rogers, and eight children: Mrs. Searles Johnson, Mrs. John Spurlock and Mrs. Nolan Harrison, all of Japton, and Mrs. Chester Hoskins of Elkins; Fred Rogers of Wesley, Niles and Tom of Japton and Scott of Elkins. Another son, Alfred Rogers, died three years ago. There are 33 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Three brothers, Ed Nelson of Japton, J. W. Nelson of Tahlequah, Okla., and Lee Nelson, and one half-brother, Tom Miller of Kinta, Okla., also survive.
