Austin Raymond Center, 88, of Winslow, Arkansas passed away at his home on August 24, 2003.
He was born February 8, 1915 near Winslow, the son of Otto and Gladys Gaylor Center.
He was a member of the CCC (Civil Conservation Corps) Group 3795, a veteran of World War II and a carpenter by trade.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Center, and two grandsons, Doug Shepherd and Willie Center
He was survived by his wife, Nevill Center of the home and to whom he was married to August 2, 1941 in Winslow;
three sons, Bill Center of Greenland, Richard Center of Prairie Grove and Jim Center of Cleveland, Texas; a daughter, Diana Hatch of McAllen, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jody Center of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don Center of Coulee City, Wash.; and eight sisters, Eva France of Venice Fla., June Tutton of Hyattsville, Md., Glenda Ploch of San Antonio, Texas, Sue Wilson of Dallas, Texas, Betty Martin and Clare Roton of Yakima, Wash., Cathy Crawford of Electric City, Wash., and Lucy McLane of Siloam Springs.
Services were held at 2 pm on Wednesday, August 27 at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery near Winslow.
