Dorothy Marie Ross

Oklahoma City

Dorothy Marie Ross, age 90, peacefully passed away April 5, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. She was born to Ralph and Mary Estes on Oct. 28, 1930 in Evansville, AR. She was the second of five siblings and is survived by her youngest sister, Betty Carol Miller.

She went to high school in Fayetteville, AR and, at the same time, worked as a telephone operator through the week, then would take the trailways bus back home to Lincoln, AR on the weekends. The driver of that bus was a redheaded guy named Dub Ross. They would have been celebrating their 68th wedding anniversary in a few months.

Dorothy was a stay-at-home wife/mom that ran the household and was always ready with love and support whenever anybody needed it. She was a dedicated wife, Mom, and Grandma first and foremost. She kept a spotless home and, when the need to decompress, she could be found playing her grand piano.

Dub and Dorothy made faith a pillar of their marriage, making many lasting friends in their church family. They are currently members of Quail Springs Baptist Church and prior to that they were at First Southern of Del City, Windsor Hills Baptist and Tulakes Baptist Church since arriving in OKC in the early 60's.

Dorothy had five boys losing the middle one, Mark, to childhood leukemia as an infant. Also predeceasing her are grandchildren, Lily Ross, Luke Ross, and Nathan Cody. She is survived by her husband, Dub, and their four sons and wives, Mike and Deann Ross, Steve and Racinda Ross, Jerry and Tammy Ross, and Scott and Susan Ross. Also, twelve grandchildren, Caitlin, Wil, Alec, London, Chloe, Gabe, Truett, Morgan, Joseph, Brynn, Brogan, and Jeremy; plus one great-granddaughter, Lynnon and a great-grandson enroute, Maximo.

Viewing will be Thursday, noon-8pm, with family present from 6-7:30pm at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury Ave., Bethany, OK 73008.

Please join us celebrating her life on Friday, April 9, 2021, 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel at Quail Springs Baptist Church, 14613 N. May Ave., OKC 73134. A private interment will be at 1:00 p.m. To share a memory or condolence, visit www.mercer-adams.com
