Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas
Allie (Peterson) Pool was born January 22, 1924, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to the union of Alfred and Fannie Peterson. After a brief period of poor health, she was residing at the Parkview Healthcare Facility when she went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the age of 95 years and 2 months.
Allie married John Pool on June 9, 1940, and together they shared 76 wonderful years of marriage. Their five children grew up as their parents served the Assemblies of God in pastoral ministry and evangelistic work for over 50 years. After John passed away in the fall of 2017, Allie continued to live in Bolivar and attended Brighton Assembly of God, Brighton, Missouri.
Allie’s greatest joy in life came from serving as a pastor’s wife, witnessing for Christ, and being mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt, sister, friend and mentor to the many families that they ministered to through the years. Many who knew her saw the way she lived her life as a great example to others-showing the light of Christ in all she did. Throughout their years of ministry, Allie sang and played the guitar in virtually every service. Her signature song was “I know a Man Who Can.” And she did know Jesus, and wanted to share the gospel with anyone she met. Everyone who entered her home was given a meal, both physically and spiritually. The churches they served were small, and Allie often worked outside the home as a seamstress, and later managed a laundromat that they owned in Morrisville, Missouri.
Allie is survived by her five children who will cherish her memory: Jeanie Moore (Dick) of Jefferson City, Earnest Pool (Patsy) of Silex, Loreta Middlebrooks (Wayne) of Lee’s Summit, Kathleen Sears (Charles) of Belton, and Kay Sears (John) of Flemington.
Her 15 grandchildren: Darrell Moore (Chris), Darla Porter (Trent), Debra Patterson (Nelson), Trecia Groshong (Scott), Tom Middlebrooks, Wesley Middlebrooks, Kenny Sears, David Sears (Pam), Vicki Sears, Todd Sears (Georgia), Waylon Sears (Dana), Kim Crowell (Scott), John Sears, Aaron Sears (Karen) and Ben Sears.
Allie is also survived by 27 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren; and a great number of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, brothers and sisters and three grandchildren (Kenny Sears, John Sears and Kim Crowell). “Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; But a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:29-31
