Homer J. Copeland, 85, of Fayetteville, died December 24, 2021 at his home after suffering a heart attack. He was born October 16, 1936 in Baron Fork, Oklahoma, the son of John and Dovie (Dildine) Copeland.
On February 25, 1959 Homer married Patricia Ann Ragland in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and to this union two daughters were born, Martha Jean and Melinda Jane.
On June 15, 1970 Homer married Effie Cornelia (Longley) Faux McCratic, and to this union one son, Gary Lee Copeland and stepchildren, Wally, Johnny, Robert and Sharon.
On March 2, 1990 Homer married Mary Joetta (Spurlock) Fanning, and to this union he had stepchildren, Tresia, Michael, James and Shawn.
He retired from Campbell Soup Company and was the owner/operator of Copeland Acres. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching wrestling and westerns on tv.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sister, Carolyn, Marie, Maybell and Violet; and four brothers, Joe, Darrell, Newton and Jerry.
He leaves in passing all his children and stepchildren (except Wally), Jean and Billy Ammons of Fayetteville, Melinda and Jay Hedegard of West Fork and Gary and Edadena of Oklahoma; 6 grandsons, Jason, Carson, Joshua and Chase Ammons and J.L. and Alex Hedegard; 1 granddaughter, Cindy Ammons Howard; and 4 great-grandsons, Carter, Matthew, Alexander and Aaron; 5 great-granddaughters, Madison, Phaedra, Wahlea, Abigail and AnaBella; two brothers, Roy of Lincoln and Gilbert and wife Betty of Lincoln; and a sister-in-law, Shirley of Oklahoma.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Beard’s Chapel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Beard’s Chapel. Interment will follow in Ganderville Cemetery in Summers, AR.
