Notes

KIRBY, Mary - Mrs. Mary Kirby, an old settler at Cane Hill, died at her

home in that neighborhood last Friday. [Washington County Review 1/14/1904]

{from The Fayetteville Daily, Friday}

Mrs. Kirby, wife of Mr. J.C. Kirby,

died at her home at Cane Hill yesterday. She came from East Tennessee to

this county about thirty years ago and has since resided in her present

home. She was universally respected as a woman of superior character

and a sincere and consistent Christian. She has been a prominent member

of the Presbyterian Church in Cane Hill for more than a quarter of a cen-

tury and her death is a loss to the entire community in which she lived.

Two months ago she suffered a severe attack of grip which finally settled

upon her lungs and she grew steadily worse until the end. She leaves a

husband and six children, Messrs. J.H., Frank and K.D. Kirby, Mrs. Lenn

Watson and Misses Bessie and Mary Kirby. [The Springdale News 1/15/1904]
