Loraine Chloe Samples Shipley of Farmington, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. She was born on July 22, 1926 in Japton to Bob and Cara Esta (Ball) Edens. She was preceded in death by her loved ones, her parents; her husband, Jess Shipley; a son, Greg Samples; a sister, Val Shipley; three brothers, Leon Edens, Calvin Lawrence Edens and Kenneth A. Loraine was a special and talented person, a dedicated mother and friend. After raising children at home for over ten years, she became an electronics technician at Baldwin Piano Company in Fayetteville, and later in California. She had a happy marriage to Jess for over 20 years. Moving back to Arkansas in 1993, she resided in Farmington where she was an active and faithful member and volunteer at the Farmington Church of Christ. She was active in their quilting group and Thursday School for preschoolers. Her lap quilts went to children’s homes and hospitals across the state.

Gardening, quilting and cooking were her love and avocation. Her house was filled with dozens of cookbooks, her yard with hundreds of flowers (her past organic gardens with truckloads of vegetables) and her family and friends blessed with countless hand-stitched quilts. Her final gift to loved ones is stuffed, patch-work teddy bears made from her quilts.
