Roland Elmo Davis
86 a resident of Farmington, Arkansas passed away peacefully Monday, December 28, 2009 at his home in Farmington, Arkansas. He was born June 30, 1923 in Maud, Oklahoma the son of Thomas Franklin and Nora Myrtle Rylant Davis.
Roland attended the Carr City School in Oklahoma.
Roland was actively involved in the community. He served as Assistant Fire Chief at the Farmington Fire Department for 23 years. He was an elected City Councilman for a number of years. During his years of service Roland proudly served as Farmington City Inspector and volunteered as a policeman. In 2007 Roland and Edna Davis received an honorary key to the city for their dedication and support to the community. In 2007 both Roland and Edna were privileged to lead the Farmington Christmas Parade as Grand Marshall’s. Roland and Edna ran Collins and Davis Grocery for 26 years. He drove a school bus for Farmington Schools and was a former member of the Lions Club. As a member of Farmington Friends, Roland helped provide fruit baskets at Christmas time. He loved fishing and spending time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edna Mae Davis of the home; one brother, Albert E. Davis of Austin, Texas and one sister, Ima Belle Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four children all of Farmington, Arkansas: Ronnie and Glenda Davis, Tommy and Lynn Davis, Nora and Ernie Taylor and Greg and Alta Davis; thirteen grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Joy Hutcherson, Kim Garner, Brad Davis, Carlie Tapley, Sarah Brock, Kelly Rogers, Katie Murr, Jacob McWhorter, Ashley Thomas, Maegan Shreve, Jessica Davis and Shane Davis; nineteen great grandchildren, Chase Garner, Bailey Hutcherson, Kailynn Jackson, Ashtin Murr, Britton Garner, Mcarter Murr, Sidney Brock, Taylor Garner, Maecy Garner, Sherrill Davis, Dallas Taylor, Rylan Brock, Kalleigh Shreve, Chloie Thomas, Blake Rogers, Kaylee Murr, Shannon Davis, Anastyn Taylor and Kenleigh Shreve along with nephews and extended family.
