Christine Durfey, age 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 8, 2012. She was born on November 12, 1924 in West Fork, Arkansas to William and Bertha (Neal) Winn. As a child, Christine helped raise her five younger siblings and worked on the family farm where she lived. She married Marvin Durfey December 29, 1945 and they moved to Holden, Washington in 1952 and then to Prosser in 1958. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, crocheting afghans, cooking, canning, reading, and putting together puzzles. Her family always gathers at her farm in Whitstran for Easter, Mother’s Day, Birthdays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. She was a member of the Grandview Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Leon and Carla Durfey of Auburn; daughter, Linda and Ken Hall of Prosser; son, Lynn and Cheri Durfey of Union Gap; and daughter, Lanette and Shannon Calvert of Medical Lake. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. She is also survived by her sister, Bea Cribbett of Skiatook, OK; brother, Elsworth and Rita Winn of Greenland, AR; brother, Oland and Marie Winn of Fayetteville, AR; sister, Louise Sargeant of West Fork, AR; brother-in-law, Carl Morelock; sister-in-law, Margery Durfey of Kennewick; sister-in-law, Helen Durfey of Highmore, SD; brother-in-law, Bruce and Marie Getz of Combs, AR; brother-in-law, Dale Wade of Springdale, AR; and numerous niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, September 12th, at the Prosser Cemetery.
