Otis Barnes Sr., 95, of Alma, formerly of Cedarville, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, in a local nursing home. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, a retired custodian and bus driver for Van Buren School District and a World War II Army veteran. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Grandview Assembly of God in Natural Dam with burial at Hall Cemetery near Natural Dam under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Violet; seven daughters, Lynda Lovejoy of Evansville, Anna Fay Trentham of Van Buren, Pansy Bradshaw and Pat Slagle, both of Tulsa, Delores Reed and Gertrude Johnson, both of Natural Dam, and Rosella Vanderlyke of Ozark; six sons, Otis Barnes Jr. of Van Buren, Darrell Barnes of Atkins, Darryl Barnes of Wilburton, Okla., Alva Gene Barnes of Cedarville, Harold Barnes of Tulsa and Ronnie Barnes of McAlester, Okla.; three stepsons, Recil Payton of Sallisaw, J.W. Payton of Van Buren and Cecil Payton of Cove City; a granddaughter that he raised, Tracy Lovelady; and numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ronald Martin, Chad Barnes, William Trentham and Bobby, Michael and Kevin Lovejoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Trentham, Lenard Vanderlyke, Bennett Lovejoy, Recil, Cecil and J.W. Payton, Scott, Bobby, Eric, Jimmy, Lowell and Johnny Lee Barnes, Rod Slagle, Dan Bradshaw and Don Ray Boyd.
