John Leroy Barr
Age 91, a resident of Prairie Grove, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. He was born September 17, 1926 in Hot Springs, South Dakota, the son of Leroy John and Helen Eva (Sanftner) Barr.
John served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
John was preceded in death by his first wife Marie Eileen Branaugh Barr, his parents, one brother Leonard "Bob" James Barr and two sisters Marlene Fair and Bonnie Oman.
Survivors include his wife Dolores Nations Barr; one son Leroy George Barr and wife Donna Chase Barr of Olympia, Washington; two daughters Donna Lee Miller and husband Milt Miller of Salem, Oregon and Kelley Dawn Barr of The Dalles, Oregon; eight grandchildren Marilee Henderson, Blake Ryan Barr, Stephen Leroy Barr, Sandra Rochelle Barr, Darcy Adams, Tony Melbye, Nicole Stocks and Chelsie Fortune ; three step children James Lynn Edens and wife Lisa Ann Edens, Kathy Leigh Keck and husband Bradley Keck and Lisa Anne Luke; seven step grandchildren Craig Edens, Paige Edens, Sarah Edens, Daniel Keck, Joshua Keck, Stephanie Bowen, and Christopher Luke; and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 11, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 12th, 2018, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
