Virginia Clayton, 84, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, March 15, at her home. She was born June 3, 1931 in Barron, Oklahoma, the daughter of Eddie and Eric Howard. Virginia graduated from Westville High School in Westville, Oklahoma. She received a Bachelor's Degree from Northeastern State University and a Master's Degree in the Art of Education from Oklahoma State University. She spent many years teaching elementary school before retiring from Farmington Elementary.
Besides spending time with her family, Virginia's greatest joy was the time spent in the church with the children. She taught Sunday School and Awana's for many years. She had a great impact on the children she touched. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Farmington.
Survivors include her daughter Sherrie James and her husband Britt and their children, Chris, Lauren, Matt, and his fiancé, Reesie. Daughter, Becky Ober, and her daughters, Melanie Ober, Megan Phillips and her husband Raymond. Her sister, Sally Weaver and husband Gil. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Dean Clayton.
A special thank you to her caregiver for many years, Beverly Lloyd. She was a blessing to Virginia and her family. A celebration of her life is planned for Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Farmington.
