66 a resident of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away July 26, 2010 at his home in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born June 13, 1944 in Malvern, Arkansas, the son of Fletcher Pierce and Myrle Dean Buie Fielding.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas.
Bob was a graduate of Malvern High School in 1962. He entered the Army on September 18, 1967. After boot camp he was accepted into Officer's Training School from which he graduated on July 18, 1967. During his time in service, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the 2nd battalion, 11th artillery, of the 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star, 3 Army Commendation medals with a "V" device for Valor, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze campaign stars, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Overseas Service Ribbon and the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Brave Eagle coin for meritorious and valorous actions during Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the Army on June 15, 1969, he joined the National Guard and served as Captain until May 31, 1975. He was instrumental in establishing the Vietnam Service Memorial at the Rogers Municipal Airport. He was a longtime member of the Rogers Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Purchasing Management Association for 25 years of which he served as president. He was a member of the Rogers Elks Club for over 10 years and served as a leading knight and as exalted ruler. He coached several youth baseball teams, served as president of the Rogers Little League and Rogers Babe Ruth Baseball Association, and was a huge Arkansas Razorback Fan. He played an instrumental role in the procurement of the steel used to construct the first Rogers Youth Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Fielding Gillespie.
Survivors include his wife Minnie Louisa Reed Fielding of the home; two sons, Philip R. Fielding of Rogers, Arkansas and Todd Alan Fielding of Lexington, South Carolina; three daughters, Theda Jane Fielding of Shreveport, Louisiana, Rebecca Elizabeth Polk and Lou Anne King both of Rogers, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Jason Polk of Portland, Oregon, Robert Prado of Portland, Oregon, Chris Polk of Gunnison, Colorado, Andrew Smith of Portland, Oregon, Reed Fielding of Shreveport, Louisiana, Nicholas Fielding of Rogers, Arkansas, Kelsey King of Rogers, Arkansas and Alex Fielding of Rogers, Arkansas.
Family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 30, 2010 - 10:00 A.M. at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas with Bret Chambliss officiating. Burial will be in Beaty Cemetery near Lincoln, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be: Allen Reed, Carlos Reed, Randy Atha, Leslie Reed, Clayton Reed, Bill Reed, Greg Williamson and Lee Reed.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Franky Dale Reed, Jim Reed, Chuck Reed, Wesley Reed, Bobby Reed, Albert Raymond Reed and Jason Reed.
