Dennis Wayne Patten

Dennis Wayne Patten, age 90, a resident of Farmington, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Arkansas State Veteran's Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born on September 5, 1934, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the son of Perry Dennis and Mamie Estelle (Harris) Patten.

Wayne dedicated his life to serving his country with honor. He joined the National Guard in 1950 before enlisting in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1956. He later served in the United States Army from 1956 until his retirement in 1974. His distinguished military career included service during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Perry Patten; and his siblings Viola, Velma, Ralph, Ruth, Ray, Roy, Billy, and Patricia.

Wayne is survived by his devoted wife of forty-six years, Doris Jean Bricker Patten; six children: Dale Shastid, Waydean Shastid, Paula Lank and her husband Greg, Ron Nagel, Estelle Patten, and Roger Dunaway and his wife Aimee; six grandchildren: Erika Lank Hinton and her husband Reese Hinton, Jessica Horrocks and her husband Jared, Andrew Poulsen and his wife Ashley, Kelly Lank Samimi and her husband Cam, Josh Patten, and Charlie Dunaway; nine great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Wayne’s legacy of service and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him through his involvement in various volunteer organizations including the Veterans Hospital, City Hospital, and the Attic to name a few. May his memory bring comfort to his family and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, December 16, 2024, 6:00-7:00 PM at Luginbuel Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 17th, 2024, at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery, there will be no graveside service held.
