Jack Newsom Howell
88 a resident of Plano, Texas passed away March 24, 2016. He was born November 22, 1927 in Kerens, Texas the son of John Columbus and Irene Mae Newsom Howell.
Jack graduated from high school in St. Joe, Texas, where he was an all district football player and a class officer. He obtained his bachelor from the University of North Texas and later graduated from Texas Christian School.
Jack was proud of his service to his country. He joined the United States Navy at age 17 and served during World War II, then was drafted into the United States Army for the Korean Conflict. He received many metals for his military service.
Jack enjoyed golf, tennis, swimming, softball, track, football, hose back riding, and traveling with his beloved Betty. He was a true Texan and lived and died in Texas which was his wish. Jack was a person of immense generosity to family and friends. He never met a stranger because of his curious and outgoing nature. He always enjoyed conversing with all he meet. He was an avid reader on many subjects including the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Mae Seay Howell and his parents.
Survivors include his sister-in-law Linda Worley and husband Dan of Fayetteville, his nephew Shawn Sellers and wife Tonda of Katy, Texas; special friends The Costella Family of Plano, Texas and numerous cousins in several states.
