Opal M. Foster
93, of Winslow released the hand of the ones she loved into the hand of the One she has not seen (passed away) on July 20, 2008, at the Circle of Life Hospice and Palliative Care in Springdale.
Opal was born on Oct. 3, 1914, in the Brentwood community to Floyd and Mable Mills Porter. She was united in marriage to J.D. Foster on July 1, 1933, and to this union, five children were born.
She was a member of Winslow Church of Christ. Opal retired form Levi Strauss in 1971. Her hand was never idle as she kept active as a homemaker, avid gardener, seamstress, baby sitter and cook.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, J.D. Foster; parents, Leonard Floyd and Mable M. Porter; two brothers, Robert and James Porter, and one sister, Nina Lemmings.
She is survived by her five children, Bill Foster and wife Sue of Fayetteville, Ernie Foster and wife Harriet of Heath, Ohio, Jerry Foster and wife Brenda of Springdale, Wanda Donaghe of Winslow, and Terry Foster of Winslow; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leon and Darrel Porter of Fayetteville, and Gerald Porter of Springdale; many other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at the Winslow Church of Christ. Burial will be in Parks Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Moore's Chapel.
