John Arlen Abshier
89, a resident of Lincoln, Arkansas, passed away October 20, 2007 at the Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born September 24, 1918 at West Fork, AR the son of Cleburn and Annie Shanks Abshier.
John served in the United States Navy during World War II, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Lincoln, Arkansas. He retired from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a wildlife officer after 33 years of service, he also served over 20 years of service as a volunteer fireman for the Lincoln Fire Department where he served as Chief. John was also a 32nd degree mason and a member of the Lincoln Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters;
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Fern Abshier of the home; one son, Darrel Abshier and his wife Kim, of St. Robert, Missouri; one brother, Orvil Abshier of Carthage, Missouri; one sister, Marcella Guess of Farmington, Arkansas; one grandson, Eddie Martin of Lake Havasu, Arizona; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday evening October 22, 2007 from 6:30-7:30 P.M. at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 23, 2007 2:00 P.M. Luginbuel Chapel Prairie Grove, Arkansas with burial in Scott Cemetery near Prairie Grove, Arkansas
Pallbearers will be Bruce Parker, Larry Crawley, Rodney Bailey, Luther Hungate, Greg Reed, Marvin Foster.
