Juanita Mae Plumb
94, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away April 13, 2007 at her daughters home in Cincinnati, Arkansas. She was born June 29, 1912 at Polo, Missouri, the daughter of Levi Jackson Mayes and Stella Alice Terry Mayes.
She was raised in Braymer, Missouri, and moved to Kansas City, Missouri, when she was seventeen years of age. Not long after, she met Alfred William ?Bill? Plumb and married on November 29, 1929. Bill died in 1948. She was a member of the Friendly Assembly of God Church in Kansas City, Missouri. She served on the Nursery Staff of the church for many years. All the children loved Sister Plumb. Juanita was employed by Krispy Nut Candy Company upon arriving in Kansas City, after which, she worked for Montgomery Ward catalog and retail store. She was hired by National-Belles-Hess catalog ordering warehouse from 1933 to 1937 and a homemaker from 1937-1949. In 1949 she started employment at Bosch Embroidery, as a power machine operator and worked twenty three years. In 1975, she began working for Meyer Optical Company in Kansas City and continued to work until 1983. Shortly after the termination of that employment she worked part-time at Oliver Montessori School. This part-time became a full-time employment within
a few months and she worked until 2000 giving care to toddlers 2-3 years of age. She was right where she enjoyed life. She loved children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Plumb Jackson and husband Donald of Cincinnati, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Kevin Jackson and wife Gail of Cincinnati, Arkansas, Jan Whitmore and husband Eugene of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, David Jackson and wife Linda, serving with the United States Air Force in Italy, Jill Barlow and husband Chris of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Also surviving are three great-grandsons, Eric Jackson, Tyler Whitmore and Karterr Barlow and six great-granddaughters, Erica Sorenson and husband Josh of New Mexico, Lindsey Jackson, Kathrine Whitmore, Kimberly Jackson, Kendell Barlow, Kalynn Barlow; one great-great grandson, Garrett Sorenson; one sister, Fern Edwards of Kansas City, Missouri; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
