Herman Franklin Thompson, age 83, died Saturday, Feb. 17th at Green Hills Health Care Center, Ames, Iowa.
He was born October 6, 1923 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the son of Mack Franklin and Julia Zellner Thompson. He attended High School in Lawrenceville, Illinois and graduated Valedictorian. He also attended the University of Illinois where he graduated magna cum laude. After serving in both European and Pacific theaters in the Army during WWII, he obtained his law degree from Columbia University. He served as Counsel for General Electric Pension Trust until he retired in 1984.
Franklin was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverley, and is survived by his wife, Patricia, of the home, one son, Mark Franklin Thompson of Winter Haven, Florida, one daughter, Pamela Caviness-Dunn of Ames, IA, and 3 grandchildren, Sean F. Fowler, Evan B. Thompson, and Morgan B. Dunn, a step-son, James Brew of Denver, Colorado, and one niece, Julanne Houck of Rogers, Arkansas.
Visitation will be held in the Chapel at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas on Thursday, 2/22/07 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (family-11 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (family-7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) Funeral services will be held in the Chapel on Friday, 2/23/07 at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
