Jerry Wayne Dunnagan
83, of Hemphill, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2024. He was born on January 19, 1941, in Binger, Oklahoma, to Melburn Bennie Dunnagan and Agnes Cleghorn Dunnagan.
Jerry had a remarkable career path. After graduating from Prairie Grove High School, he bravely entered the United States Navy and served aboard the submarine, the USS Sabalo. Following his military service, Jerry worked various construction jobs before finding his niche at Sinclair and Arco Pipeline.
On retirement after 31 years of service, Jerry embarked on adventures across the United States with his beloved wife, Linda, until they settled on Toledo Bend Lake in 1999. He attended the Church of God and found solace in gardening, woodworking, fishing, and boating during his leisure time. He could fix anything that needed fixing, earning the nickname "MacGuyver" from his friends and family.
Jerry's memory will be cherished by his sons, Stacy Scott of Overland Park, Kansas, and Kenyon Scott of Walnut Shade, Missouri; daughter, Michele Whitaker and husband, Kelly, of Holt Summit, Missouri; grandchildren, Ashley Sweet, Christopher Grimpo, Catherine Scott, and Michael Scott; and his special love, Cynthia Bates.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Linda Dunnagan, his parents, Milburn and Agnes Dunnagan, his brothers Berlyn, Bud, Bill, and Jack Dunnagan, and his sister, Estelle Vandenack.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Prairie Grove Cemetery in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Visitation will take place before the service from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
