Notes

MAUPIN, Richard Lee - {from The Prairie Grove Herald) Mr. Richard

Lee Maupin quietly breathed his last at 2 o’clock Wednesday morning at

the Oaks, the home of his mother, Mrs. A.L. Maupin, in the northwestern

suburbs of Prairie Grove. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. A.L. Maupin,

one brother, Mr. Lincoln Maupin and two sisters, Mrs. H.D. Cummings

and Miss Emily Maupin, all of Prairie Grove. His father preceded him to

the grave about one year ago. This young man had been a great sufferer for

several months with a throat affection which baffled all medical skill to

stay its progress but when the end came he passed away quietly and without

pain, as if in a refreshing sleep. The funeral services were held from the

home this morning at 10 o’clock, conducted by Rev. F.A. Bradshaw, assisted

by Rev. E.M. Freyschlag and the interment was made in the Prairie Grove

cemetery. The floral offering was very large and beautiful. Richard Lee

Maupin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Maupin and was born in

Rockingham county, Va. Oct. 7, 1879. About seven years ago he came to

this community with his parents and has lived here since that time, making

many warm friends among his acquaintances. He was a quiet, steady and

industrious young man, faithful to every trust imposed in him. He was

possessed of a mechanical turn of mind and the greater part of his industrial

activity was along this line. [The Springdale News 3/31/1911]
