Dorothy Mae Rankin, 83-year-old resident of Gentry, Ark., died Dec. 3, 2014, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation, Siloam Springs, Ark. She was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Siloam Springs to Hubert B. Williams and Cleta Belle Simpson Williams.
Dorothy was later raised by her mother, Cleta Simpson Speed, and her stepfather, Burley Speed.
She married Elvin Rankin on June 11, 1952, in Siloam Springs. She worked as a food supervisor for Colcord Schools and with the Gentry Head Start Program. Dorothy was a member of the Bloomfield Ladies Club and attended First Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sharon Rankin; and one brother, Lonnie Speed.
She is survived by her husband, Elvin Rankin of Gentry; one daughter, Glenda Manos and husband, Larry, of Siloam Springs; two sons, Larry Rankin and Gary Rankin of Gentry; seven grandchildren, Traci Letellier and husband, Casey, Corrie Wimberly and husband, Brandon, Amy Mayberry and husband, Scott, Angie Kirkpatrick and husband, T.A., Jerred Rankin and wife, Kayla, Nathan Amos and fiancee, Vilgen, and Regina Amos; eight great-grandchildren, Boyd Wimberly, Dean Wimberly, Stone Mayberry, Briar Mayberry, Jaxon Milsap, Presley Kirkpatrick, Astralia Roman and Asia Amos; one brother, David Speed of Siloam Springs; and three sisters, Wanda Straub of Freemont, Calif., Freda Gibbs of Siloam Springs and Betty Duncan of Decatur, Ark.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Siloam Springs Bible Church, with Brother Wayne Thomas of Kind at Heart Ministries officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Siloam Springs.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
