In 1754 Thomas's father Timothy (1689) gave him 230 acres in Albemarle Parish, Sussex Co., which Thomas sold the next year. Thomas Ezell signed his name and his wife Anna [Anne?] made her mark. Thomas evidently had other land he sold or gave away as that is where he died.
In his will he gave Abel the home plantation. Balaam received one feather bed and furniture.
The inventory came to 115 lbs., 19 s. and 10 p., not including bequeaths and gifts before his death.
(Reading through what old wills I have, it seems that one child always gets nothing but a feather bed and furniture. Most of the others usually got much more. I have wondered if one of the children had been a "black sheep" in the family and that was his father's way of letting him know how he felt toward him. I have always thought this might be the case of Balaam.) MEB 1979
