Notes: THE PARIS NEWS, Monday, March 13, 2000, page 8A: 'HONEY GROVE - Gladys Maurine Hobbs Hall, 88, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at her home in Dallas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home with the Rev. David Turner and Traci Lovermen of Lakewood United Methodist Church, Dallas, officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial services will be Sunday, March 19, at Lakewood United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Turner officiating. She was born July 29, 1911, in Honey Grove, she attended school in Honey Grove and earned a BA degree in English from Texas Woman's University in Denton. She taught school 13 years and was employed in several clerical and administrative positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, U.S. Department of Agriculture, North American Aviation, the U.S. Navy Department, and Sanger Harris. Gladys especially enjoyed her church life at Lakewood United Methodist Church. She was well-known for her warm and friendly greetings of visitors, her special love for children in the church, and the loving care she gave to those who were ill, both in her church and family. She was an active and enthusiastic participant in United Methodist Women, the Wesley Builders Sunday School Class, and the Have-A-Heart Visitation group. She also served many years as the church historian. In a recent card she received for Valentine's Day, a church member told her, 'We miss you so much at church...You may never know how many lives you have touched over the years. I will always cherish my memories of your warm smile and kind words that greeted me every time I entered the church.' Although Gladys will be sorely missed, her memory and good works will continue in the church and community for many years to come. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, Maurine Davis of Oklahoma City, Martha Wilmuth of Kingston, Okla., Auburt Wayne McKinnon of Brandenton, Fla., Walter Thomas McKinnon of Arlington; Sarah Gene Gist of Mesquite and Donna K. Cherry of Powder Springs, Ga. Other relatives include a cousin, Etta K. Stringer of Petty; great-nephew, Dan Cantrell of Oklahoma City, and great-niece, Donna Kay Milroy of Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by her father, Oswell Harmon Hobbs, her mother Daisy Ann Turner Hobbs, and foster sister, Ruth Budd Gailbraith. Pallbearers will be Daniel Daniel Cantrell, Matthew Cantrell, Ed Larroca, Peter Loveman, Mike Sheaner and Felix Ray Stringer.' *Buried next to Ruth Budd Galbraith.
