Truth or Consequences, New Mexico
Phyllis Jean Allen Pierce
84, a resident of Prairie Grove Arkansas, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019 in Fayetteville Arkansas. She was born February 16, 1935 in Truth or Consequences New Mexico, the daughter of Wallace Edward and Edna Louisa (Pearson) McAdams.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband Andy Allen in 1986 and her son Richard Allen in 2003. Survivors include her beloved husband Harold Pierce of Prairie Grove, a daughter DeAnna Allen Henry and her husband Bill Henry of Prairie Grove, daughter in law Julia Huey and her husband Billy of Jonesboro, and a son Leroy Allen and his wife Regina Allen of Rogers. Phyllis had four grandchildren: Jennifer Allen Patterson and her husband James, Karen Allen Jones and her husband Aaron, Christopher Allen, and Kenneth Allen and his wife Jacqueline Fain Allen. Phyllis had seven great grandchildren: Kylee Patterson, Abel Patterson, Joshua Allen, Caleb Allen, Kayla Allen, Tiffany Allen, and little Noah Jones, born 11/27/2019. Two sisters, Ellen McAdams Beal, Carrie McAdams Beal, one sister in law Wanda McAdams, and many loved ones, family, and friends.
Phyllis valued education; besides obtaining her GED, she took typing, sewing, guitar, piano, and cake decorating classes. She obtained her real estate license and became a realtor. She worked in and outside her home, performing factory work, cafeteria work, sales and was a caregiver for the elderly. She loved sewing, crocheting and canning, taking pride in the beautiful rows of vegetables that she put up for her family. She was confident, resilient, and independent, willing to take risks and always striving to do better and be better. Phyllis was a selfless person, donating a kidney to her sister which prolonged her life by seventeen years. Phyllis never mentioned this gift to anyone, preferring to act is if it never happened. She was more comfortable giving than receiving, was quite stubborn, and drove fast. Buicks were her vehicle of choice. She famously described herself as "tough", and her purse weighed more than she did. Phyllis loved fashion and high heels, and she enjoyed marathon shopping trips with her daughter and daughters in law. She rarely complained and her favorite thing to do was whatever everyone else wanted to do.
Phyllis and her first husband Andy became Christians in the early 80's, and their descendants reap the benefits of their example and prayers to this day. After Andy's death in 1986, Phyllis was alone for decades, never expecting fall in love again. Yet in 2009 she surprised everyone including herself by marrying a second time. Phyllis and Harold enjoyed a retirement lifestyle together, traveling, making new friends and ministering locally. It was Harold's loving care that enabled Phyllis to remain at home despite her failing health.
The family will receive friends Friday November 29, from 6:00 to 7:00 at Luginbuel Funeral home, and afterwards at the home of Bill and DeAnna Henry.
