William Arnold Blackie Smith

William Arnold (Blackie) Smith, 87, of Elm Springs, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 in Springdale. He was born August 24, 1929 in Morrow, Ark., to Ab and Laura Rice Smith. Blackie was a cowboy and calf roper; he loved rodeo and horses. He was a truck driver. He attended Calvary Freewill Baptist Church of Springdale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his wife, Roena Smith of the home; one son, Gene Smith and wife Teresa of Gentry; three grandchildren, Chad Smith and wife Monica of Springdale, Dustin Smith and wife Denise of Jay, Okla., and Jessica Smith of Gentry; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Smith, Stone Smith, Sawyer Smith and Kenley Smith.

Funeral services will be Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 10 a.m., at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, with Hank Kilgore officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.siscofuneral.com.
