Duward Edisle "Dude" Smith
78, a resident of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away March 25, 2007 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He was born December 2, 1928 at Springdale, Arkansas, the son of Calvin and Lilly Wilbanks Smith.
Dude attended the Centerpoint Church of God. He served in the United States Army for twenty-three years. He received many medals including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Soldiers Medal. He served in occupied Germany, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a lifetime member of the Lincoln, VFW and The American Legion Post 146.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Barney, Wayne, and Joe Smith; two sisters, Betty Curtsinger and Clara Mayes; and his Mother and Father.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Betty Pense Smith of the home; one daughter, Vickie Peoples and husband Harold of Prairie Grove, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Jimmy Peoples and Kaysie Seitz; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Tuesday March 27, 2007 from 10:00 A.M. to 8:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2007 - 2:00 P.M. at the Luginbuel Chapel Prairie Grove, Arkansas, with Brother Cecil Sugg officiating. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery Viney Grove, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Harold Peoples, Jimmy Peoples, Cleve Seitz, Bobby Peoples, Johnny Peoples, and Randy Peoples.
