HIGHTOWER FUNERAL HELD
Funeral service was held this afternoon for Louis Kenton Hightower, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hightower, Sr. of Prairie Grove, at Beaty cemetery near Prairie Grove.
His body was the first Washington County resident to be brought back from overseas.
He was drowned while attempting to go to the aid of two Marine Corps companison about 200 yards from the island.
He was posthumously awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for Heroic Conduct, and the Purple Heart.
He had enlisted in the Marines in February, 1943 and went overseas with the Fourth Marine Divison.
Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Helen; and a brother, Robert, Jr. of Prairie Grove.
