Betty had her profession of faith as a teenager. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Her parents were farmers in Bush Valley for many years. She graduated from Morrow High School in 1945 where she played basketball and finished number one in her class. Her first job was with Oklahoma Gas and Electric as a bookkeeper in Fort Smith from 1947-1952. Dr. Fred Roebuck joined Betty and Jack N. Howell in marriage on May 25, 1952 at the United Methodist Church of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Their first home was in Saint Jo, Texas where her husband engaged in ranching from 1952 until 1954. Her husband was an auditor most of the time for Bell Helicopter and later as a management advisor to bonding companies in the construction industry.
Betty?s life interests were sports participants, extensive travel, self improvement courses. She was a person who was very devoted to her husband, family, and to the many people that her life touched upon. She gave away many things to people less fortunate then herself. Her generosity was well known. She made friends easily and kept them. She will be missed by one and all. We believe God knows her quite well.
