Nora Bethel Moore Martindale, was born November 21, 1917 in Lincoln, AR.
She passed away Friday, September 27, 2013. She was the youngest daughter of Samuel Centenial Moore and Emma Nancy Jordan Moore.
Because Nora's mother died when she was a young girl, she went to live with an aunt in Missouri. She returned to Arkansas when she was 16. She then moved to Fort Smith where she met her future husband James Earl Martindale. Earl and Nora were married December 31, 1937. They were married 61 years. Nora loved being a housewife. Earl and Nora lived in California for several years before retiring and returning to Arkansas. Nora is a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fort Smith, AR.
Nora married William Cleveland Abner April 16, 1998; they were married for 5 years. Nora is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, her husband Bill, 6 brothers: Erskine, Tinker, Hill, Preston, Tony, & Clifton, 3 sisters: Gertie Moore, Golda Barnes, Myrtle Bennet White, and her in-laws: Tom and Mary Martindale, her dear friend Margie Thomas, 3 nephews, and 3 nieces.
Rosary will be said at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church immediately followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband Earl. Viewing will take place at the church before the Rosary. Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.
Nora is survived by 2 step-daughters: Welleta Keeter and Lavida Farley, her dear friend Cheryl Mills, 9 nephews and 10 nieces. Her contagious laughter and sweet kisses will be surely missed.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
