Robert Eugene Carnahan
age 98, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, November 3rd in Tulsa. He was born February 9,1919 in Viney Grove, Arkansas, the son of Samuel LeFevre, and Mary Frances (Cook) Carnahan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Clorine Armstrong Carnahan, his parents, 5 brothers, and 6 sisters.
He is survived by his son, Phillip and wife, Marva Carnahan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter Janette (Carnahan) Jordan and husband Patrick of Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren; Melissa (Carnahan) Dickey, Erin (Carnahan ) Muniz, Evan Carnahan, and Emily Jordan. Additional survivors include three great grandchildren; Trey Dickey and wife Meghan, Reid Dickey, and Caleb Muniz. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Gene graduated from Prairie Grove High School, and attended business college in Tulsa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Airplane and Engine Mechanic. He was employed as an optician for many years in Tulsa, and retired as co-owner of Kings Opticians. During his lifetime he enjoyed rock hounding, being a Boy Scout leader, tending his rose garden, creating stained glass artwork, fishing, and above all spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held in the Viney Grove United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Interment will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
