Virginia West Jackson
90, a resident of Lincoln, Arkansas, passed away March 7, 2009 at the City Hospital in Fayetteville. She was born June 11, 1918 at Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the daughter of John Jantry and Maggie Kathrine Armstrong West.
Virginia was a member of the Central United Methodist Church of Lincoln, Arkansas. She married Roy Jackson August 22, 1959, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Virginia graduated from high school in 1935 as Valedictorian of her class. She began working in the U.S. Post Office in January 1936 where she later became Assistant Postmaster in 1948; she retired in 1976 with 33 years of service.
She enjoyed gardening and shared her floral arrangements with various churches for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Eula Lee West and Mary Katherine Roberts, three brothers, James William West, Tom Stanley West, and John Perry West.
Survivors include her husband of forty-nine years, Roy Jackson of the home, one son Roy Lee Jackson of Joplin, Missouri, and two nephews, David Wayne Roberts and Larry Gene Roberts both of Stilwell, Oklahoma.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2009 - 10:00 a.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Interment will be in the Bethesda Cemetery near Morrow, Arkansas.
