Roy Jackson
90, a resident of Lincoln, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the City Hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born March 23, 1920 in Stilwell, Oklahoma, to John Ephraim and Myrtle Little Jackson.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Arkansas. He married Virginia West August 22, 1959, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. He was in the retail business for 45 years, co-owner and manager of Carrington Lumber and Supply Company in Lincoln for 37 years. He was a charter member of the Lincoln Kiwanis Club with a 57-year perfect- attendance record. He served on the Lincoln City Council for 18 years: 14 years as alderman, and four years as mayor. He served as a director on the board of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission for 20 years. He was instrumental with working with others in establishing the West Washington County Ambulance Service, and served as Chairman of the Board for 12 years. He worked with area churches to establish the Grace Place, a charitable organization; he and his wife, Virginia were volunteer workers there for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ewing Edward Jackson; one sister, Viola Tate; his wife of 49 years, Virginia West Jackson on March 7, 2009.
Survivors are one son, Roy Lee Jackson of Joplin, Missouri; one niece, Linda Munyon, Morrow, Arkansas; one nephew, David Tate, Elkins, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2010 - 10:00 a.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Interment will be in the Bethesda Cemetery near Morrow, Arkansas. Grave side services will not be held at the cemetery.
