Warren Rankin graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Civil Engineering Degree. He served in The Armed Forces, then went to work for Frisco Railroad where he worked for twenty years.
Warren H. Rankin, 81, Springfield, was born on Oct. 20, 1923, to Agnes and Clyde E. Rankin in Springdale, Ark. He was educated in the Springdale school system and graduated from the University of Arkansas. He served in the 158th Infantry of the 158 RCT in the Pacific Area during World War II. On July 25, 1953, he was united in marriage with Lucille Jackson. To this union two children were born, Scott and Nancy. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church since 1954. He was employed in the Engineering Dept. of the Frisco Railway at Chaffee, Mo., in 1948. In 1952, he transferred to the Bridge Dept. in Springfield. He retired in 1981. He was a member of the AREA and served as President of the American Railway Bridge and Building Association. His love of music led him to the Sho-Me-Statesman Chorus and the St. Paul Choir. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and his wife of 48 years, Lucille, in January of 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Phillips and her husband, Mike; son, Scott Rankin; and grandson, Justin Parrish. Funeral services under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in the First United Methodist Church, formerly the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 413 E. Walnut, Springfield. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m., tonight, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Springfield.
