Robert "Bob" Joseph Mileur
Bob left this world on November 23, 2015. He was born July 13, 1927 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Alfred E. and Mary Coleman Mileur. At the time of his birth, his parents lived in the oil boom town of Santa Fe, which was some twenty miles to the East of Duncan. His father was Supt. for Majestic Oil, and his mother taught school in Santa Fe. After the “bust” of 1929 the family moved, finally settling in Lincoln, Arkansas. Here Bob finished grade and high school, worked in the local bank, and married his high-school sweetheart Verona Belle Kidd.
After daughter Sharon was born, Bob and Belle moved to Oklahoma City. Both worked in banks initially, then Bob began a successful career with the Air Force at Tinker. He had a 31 year career in a variety of management positions including Deputy System Manager for the A7D aircraft, was the first AWACS employee in the ALC, and later the first Deputy System Manager for AWACS. He retired as Deputy Director, Supply and Transportation. During his time at Tinker, Bob earned a bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma University.
While at Tinker the family lived in Midwest City where son Ron was born. After retiring from Tinker, bob Founded AIREP Corporation - an Aerospace consulting and representative firm. He was CEO of this firm until “real” retirement.
Bob was an avid quail hunter, but was best known for his marksmanship with his shotgun. He was an Oklahoma State Champion Skeet Shooter, and well known in the skeet circuit. Other hobbies included being a wildlife artist, guitar player, and had his own band. Wife Belle participated in the band, and was primarily into Bass fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife Verona Belle.
Survivors include his daughter Sharon Mileur Swain and husband Harry of Lincoln, Arkansas; one son Ron Mileur and wife Laurie of Cambria, California; two sisters, Mary Alice Pitts and husband Roger and Barbara Griscom and husband Don all of Lincoln, Arkansas; and his grandkids and great grandkids.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2015 - 2:00 P.M. at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery, there will be no graveside services held at the cemetery.
