Patricia Johnston Reed went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 1, 2006.
She was born December 28, 1922 in Sharon, Oklahoma to Lena Barnes Johnston and Harry Homer Johnston.
She was a graduate of Prairie Grove High School and the University of Arkansas, where she received her BA degree in Journalism in 1948. She began a teaching career in Morrow, Arkansas, and also taught in Newport, Arkansas; Denver, Colorado; Harrison, Arkansas and at Southwest Jr. High School in Springdale, Arkansas where she retired in 1987. Her dedication to the field of teaching developed with an awakening of a God-given desire to love and serve those who had learning needs.
She was a member of First Baptist Church Springdale and also taught Sunday School for many years. Her community service included P.T.A., P.E.O. and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo W. Reed on August 2, 1997 to whom she was married September 7, 1949.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws, Kendall Reed and Olivia; David Reed and Donna; one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Brown and Paul, all of Springdale. Ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas on Tuesday, April 4 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Charlie Foster and Rev. Joe Dorman officiating.
Burial will be at Bethesda Cemetery in Morrow, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Paul Brown, Jared Brown, Nathan Brown, Aaron Brown, Brad Reed and Jonathan Reed.
