Mary Catherine (Kay) Edwards McBride (1943-2023)

Mary Catherine (Kay) Edwards McBride, 80, died Saturday, November 25, 2023 in Fayetteville, Arkansas surrounded by her family.

She was born in Aurora, Missouri on July 19, 1943 to Floyd Erchel and Viola Virginia Crossland Edwards, the fourth of five daughters. Raised on a dairy farm, Kay worked the farm with her father while attending school at Verona, then graduating with honors from Monett High School in 1961. She met the love of her life, Wayne Paul McBride, at church, marrying May 26, 1962 and moving to Ft. Huachuca, AZ as he completed his 2 year stint in the Army. They lived in Monett, MO, Cassville, MO, Nashoba, OK, Broken Bow, OK, De Queen, AR, then retired to Farmington, AR to be near family.

Kay was a people person with a true servant’s heart. She loved the Lord and served her churches in each area they lived through women’s ministries, children’s ministries, and nursing home outreach. She also befriended the elderly and anyone in need; assisting them with appointments, grocery shopping, and taking them out for lunch. She planned showers, weddings, family events, and worked hard to make everything beautiful for those attending. She worked at times and balanced all of these activities with the utmost care and keeping of her family. Later, she assisted her sister, Renee, decorating dozens of houses for friends and those in need. She enjoyed cooking, especially for her family, entertaining, gardening, shopping, and being with family. She loved her grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader, attending all their activities. She treasured her time with them, playing, baking, gardening, and crafting. Kay was a friend to all and treasured her many friends, nurturing those relationships with her genuine love for them.
