Obituary
Marietta Morris Age 94, a resident of Fayetteville, Arkansas, previously of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Washington Reginal Medical Center in Fayetteville Arkansas. She was born October 16, 1929, in Lincoln, Arkansas, the daughter of Grover Cleveland and Frances Kathleen (Braly) Foley.
Marietta was born and raised in Lincoln, AR. She attended the University of Arkansas and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1951. After graduation she was a County Extension Agent in Benton County, AR.
Marietta met her future husband, Bill Morris, at the UofA Presbyterian Student Center and later married Bill on Valentine’s Day 1952. Marietta and Bill’s love for one another was evident to all that they encountered in their 71 years of marriage. Marietta supported Bill during his military career and was the guiding force in raising her three children.
She was active in the Presbyterian Church through worship, Sunday school, Women’s circle, and Wednesday Bible study.
She volunteered in various civic organizations wherever she lived to include County Extension Club, Garden Club, Lincoln Country Doctor Museum, Meals-on-Wheels, Lincoln Apple Festival, Eastern Star, & the launching of the Lincoln Planning Commission.
As a former high school basketball player, she loved watching sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks. Marietta & Bill were season ticket holders for Men’s & Women’s basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, & gymnastics.
Marietta was an excellent cook. She was well known for her pies, chocolate chip cookies, angel biscuits, & crescent rolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Ruth Parker.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Morris; one son James Morris and his wife Nicky; two daughters Sarah Altland and her husband Bill and Margaret Bohannon and her husband Tom; nine grandchildren Michelle Morris Hall, Michael Morris, Melanie Morris Risley, Emily Altland McNulty, Katie Altland, Eli Altland, Hannah Altland, Brian Bohannon, and Carrie Bohannon; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 21, 2023 - 10:00 A.M. at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove, Arkansas. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, there will be no graveside services held.
