Helen Lorene Douthit
A longtime resident of Prairie Grove passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 at Willard Walker Hospice Home at the age of 92. She was born April 23, 1932 in Des Moines, Iowa to Leonard and Lula (Hunton) Cawthon.
Helen was married to James Isom Douthit on January 16, 1950. To this union was born three daughters, Beverly Ann, Diane Annette and Janette Irene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty-three years, two sisters, Mary Jean Coulter and Theda Ezell; one daughter, Janette Irene Drake and one grandson, Daniel Pense.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Ann Pense of Springdale and Diane Annette Baker and husband Ray of Prairie Grove, seven grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Helen was also a long-time member of Prairie Grove First Baptist Church and was faithful to attend services when she could. When her health began to fail, she only attended Sunday School which she really enjoyed.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed a variety of things in life; going for long rides in the countryside, family gatherings and watching old T.V. shows. She was also an avid reader. She enjoyed mowing her yard and it was her pride and joy that she could still mow up into her 90's.
Helen is to be buried with her husband at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.
