REMEMBERING THE GOOD TIMES.

FAMILY, I WORKED FOR GENERAL MOTORS AS A REPRESENTATIVE CALLING ON JONES MTR. CO. FOR YEARS. GARY AND I WERE GOOD FRIENDS AND I ALWAYS ENJOYED THE FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE PRESENTED AT THIS GM DEALERSHIP..ESPECIALLY WITH GARY AND RICK IN THE PARTS DEPARTMENT. HE WAS A MAN OF HIS WORD..ALWAYS CO-OPERATIVE AND FRIENDLY TO ALL THE PATRONS.

Before Meremel Farm even had a name, Gary Farley was THE ‘go to’ guy. He rushed down the hill to kill snakes, fix water line, put out hay for horses and cattle in the worst of weather, change tires, trouble-shoot equipment problems, repair fences, fix what horses and humans broke, pull us out of ditches and get us out of pickles. If he couldn’t fix something, he knew who could…and in short order had even the most daunting task effortlessly completed. It was no mistake that we gave Gary the ‘golden hammer’ award last year for his decade of trouble-shooting, kindness and generosity. Gary was always willing to bail us out of trouble and counseled us on how we could best take care of the equipment and the land at Meremel. He inadvertently taught us how to become better people. Many times the U of A students who work at Meremel would call Gary for advice, help, or a shoulder to lean on – and he was always there for them, proving to be a valuable mentor to scores of young people who love the farm life while generously sharing his knowledge. Gary Farley was one-of-a-kind, and will be sorely missed.
