I never had the pleasure of meeting Galen but worked through emails with him and his family to help the animals. The people that I know that knew him always had good things to say about him and his family. He will be missed by many in this world, people and animals alike!
Tina Holman - Friend

Words can't explain how sorry we are for your loss. We just can't believe it. We only met your family once, but since then, thru all the emails, we felt like we have known you forever. If you ever need anything, please don't hesitate to ask.

Michele and family,
I never got to meet you or your hubby. But I feel that I knew you both so well through our work with saving animals. I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you.

I met Galen, along with Michele and their children through animal rescue. I knew the instant I met Galen that I was in the presence of a remarkable person. His smile and his laughter gave you the feeling that is usually reserved for a old, familiar friend. He was such a compassionate, kind person. What a void his passing must leave to all who knew and love Galen, people and animals alike. May God bless Michele, their wonderful children and the rest of his family.
Glenda Morgan - Fellow Animal Rescuer

I'll never forget Galen's enthusiasm and excitement when he came to work for us. He had been commuting from Alabama where he was working to Arkansas where his family was residing. He brought a wealth of knowledge with him to our business and enabled us to grow.
My favorite memories of Galen were at lunch time. I would go into his office and he would be sitting there eating his lunch and reading "Parenting" books. He loved his children and Michelle with a passion. He was a very good man!!!
Even when his health was deteriorating, he always had a positive attitude and a smile.

I am glad to say that Galen Bailey was a mentor and a friend of mine. Galen was one of the most motivated people I have ever met. He knew how to work hard, but was always ready to lighten the mood with a humorous story about one of the kids, growing up in Alabama, college football, Canadian hunting trips, or any other number of subjects. He was always willing to share his wealth of work experience; never condescendingly, but like the natural teacher he was, telling in story form what did or did not work and why.
He’d arrive at work before dawn, so he’d have time to stop at Wal-Mart on the way home before he’d start his commute of over an hour. Even as his health started to decline, he wanted to keep contributing and remaining upbeat and optimistic. I remember visiting him in the hospital last year. He didn’t want to talk about himself or his health; he wanted to hear how everyone at Target Direct was doing. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to chat with him just this past week. My thoughts and prayers are with Galen’s family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

He really taught me alot about mailing and life in general.
Even when he was having problems with his health he still had that drive and attitude about him.
Thanks for the pleasure of getting to work with him and finding a great friend.

Galen and I were classmates in a gifted program at Robinson Elementary School in Birmingham from 5th through 8th grade. We had the same teacher all 4 years. I didn't see him again after we left grammar school, but I remember him as being such a very kind, gentle and happy guy. He was always ready to laugh, but never at another person's expense. I am so glad you shared your family pictures. It is easy to see from these photos that he enjoyed a wonderful love for all of you. I will always have happy memories of Galen as my childhood friend and am glad to know what a grand fellow he turned out to be. God bless all of you.

Since I was an only child, my cousins were the closest thing I had to siblings. Uncle Ted and Aunt Marjorie treated me like a daughter, and I have so many wonderful memories of time spent with Galen and Rondy and Uncle Ted and Aunt Marjorie -- particularly at Cascade Plunge. Michele, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your children and other family. Aunt Marjorie and Rondy, God bless you and be with you as you deal with the sadness of Galen's passing.

Dear Michelle, Marjorie, Rondy and precious children,
While it's been so many years since I've seen Galen, memories of him flood back. Swimming in the little pond in the East Lake backyard and being with him and family at Aunt Minnie's.
Oh how I pray for all of you as you go through this journey with the hand of the Lord guiding you while you heart is so tender.
Sent with so much love.

Both visits to your home, I was made to feel very welcome. It was a pleasure to adopt from your family and help you, spread the gift of families to pets that would have no chance without your family. I am so sorry for your loss. For the kids, I hope they remember everything they shared with their dad, I know what the loss of a father is, as I lost mine when I was just three. I am so glad all your kids are older. God Bless you all! Your family will be in our prayers.

Marjorie and my mom, Gerry Aders, were best friends! My sister Susan, my Mom and I worked at the Mail business when it first got started and what memories those were. We were together most every weekend. When my sister called me and told me of your loss, all the memories of our childhood came to pass. Anyone that knew him will miss him. God bless you and the children.
I will keep you in my prayers,

Galen was not only my 1st cousin but also my best friend growing up. We did lots of sports related things together and played on the same teams many times. I lived with Galen, Rondy, Majorie, and Ted on a couple of occasions when my parents had health issues and even attended Barrett elementary with Galen during one of my stays. I regret that I lost touch with Galen after he moved to Arkansas but I have thought of him often and will never forget him or forgive him for getting me out of bed at dark :30 on many occasions to go deer hunting in the cold and damp Alabama winters.

I remember--a little blond boy who grew into a strong man.

Michelle, I am so surprised and sorry to hear of your husbands passing. I only met him the one time when he drove to meet me to pick up Polly when she was sick, but it was quite obvious that he was a caring man. I know you and your family will miss him greatly. I know that words can not describe what you and your family must be feeling during this difficult time, but know that if you need anything, even someone to talk to in your time of grieving, I am here for you as best I know how to be. My prayers are with you and your family.

Galen, a man worth knowing. A real man who had true values and a huge heart. If only (my sorrow) we had known you better. Distance has been a cruel task for us. Yet seldom did a week go by that this wonderful family was not a source of pleasant conversation and a precious memory of the small time we got to spend up on the mountain with Galen and his (and ours) loved ones

I will always remember cooking hamburgers out on the hibachi and our Grandparents house every Sun. night. Galen was always so smart- he could always figure ways to get us OUT of the trouble we could get ourselves into. Then we would walk over to Shelnutts grocery and spend our dimes!!! Good times- great memories. He will be greatly missed.

We all would like to extend our deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one. Galen indeed was a fine man in many ways. He was also a very fortunate man to have been blessed with such a good family... past and present. We know he will truly be missed. I would like to mention that Mildred Lloyd and A. D. Darby have been friends of the Baileys' for many years. May I also add that Galen was responsible for Steve and I meeting some 31 years ago, and for that I am so very thankful. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
