Obituary

Felix “Herman” Reed, of Farmington, Arkansas, peacefully departed this life for glory on Friday, January 24, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 12, 1928, in Morrow, Arkansas, to James Owen and Emma D. (McCarty) Reed.
Herman married Clara Belle West, the light of his life, in 1950 in Lincoln, Arkansas. After marrying, they moved to Southern California, where they raised their three children before retiring and returning to Northwest Arkansas. They were married for 63 years until her passing in January of 2014.

Herman trusted the Lord as his Savior and served Him all his life. His faith was the cornerstone of his life. He witnessed to the lost and prayed daily for family and friends. He was a wonderful example of a follower of Christ in his gentle, quiet manner. He was a humble man, full of integrity. He loved and cared for his family, putting others first and making each person feel unique and special. He was always active in his local church, serving as a deacon and a beloved Sunday School teacher, as well as serving on volunteer mission trips to Yemen, Africa, Germany, Brazil and Honduras. He also supported missions monetarily and through prayer. He was often found in his recliner asleep with his Bible open on his lap. He faithfully served and cared for Clara in her declining health, and continued lovingly caring for their son, Doug, after she passed.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, one brother James Gerald Reed and one sister, Thelma Jane Loftin.

Herman was father to Douglas Herman Reed, whom he cared for at home, Janice Clara Reed Gebauer and her husband Albert, and Cheryl Ann Reed Headrick and her husband Bob, all currently living in Farmington, Arkansas. He had 7 grandchildren: Andrew Wayne Gebauer and his wife Olga of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Cheri Ann Gebauer Anderson and her husband Eric of Worland, Wyoming; Claire Beth Gebauer Martinez and her husband Seth of Billings, Montana; Masha Grace Gebauer Collins and her husband Wes of Greenwood, Arkansas; Robert Owen Headrick and his wife Cheri of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Sarah Jean Headrick Campbell and her husband Lukas of Monessen, Pennsylvania; and David Alan Headrick and his wife Jenna of Farmington, Arkansas. He also had 22 great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Annette, Alex, and Katelyn Gebauer of Siloam Springs; Peter, James, Bonnie, Marcus, Emma, Ellen, and Lucas Anderson of Worland, Wyoming; Aspen, Gemma, Skylar, and Teegan Martinez of Billings, Montana; DeShaun and Skyler Collins of Greenwood, Arkansas; James, Charlotte, and Oliver Headrick of Siloam Springs; and Ingrid and Olive of Farmington, Arkansas. One brother, Thomas Earl Reed of Morrow, Arkansas.

As he was dying Herman told many people, “I’m going on a journey, if you want to go with me you need to talk to Jesus”.

If Herman were here he’d say, “I’m glad you got to see me.”

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2025 from 4:00 - 5:00 P.M. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon, January 27, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln with burial in Bethesda Cemetery near Morrow, Arkansas. Graveside services will not be held at the cemetery.

Tributes

Met Clara and Herman at my sister’s husband’s funeral and saw them many times after, when visiting Bob and Cheryl. He was such a nice man and cared deeply for his family. I hope the family will have peace in knowing he is with Jesus in heaven and with Clara once again.
