Donna Jean Braden Woods
Donna was born on August 18, 1931 in Green City, Missouri to Gordon Bradley Braden and Irene Ledford Braden. She lived in Green City until about 1941 when she moved to Oklahoma City. She graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, OK before attending college at Christian College in Columbia, MO for two years and then graduating from OSU in Stillwater, OK with a BS in Political Science. She met her future husband at OSU on a blind date. They married on July 3, 1953 after they both graduated from OSU. While Vol was stationed at Fort Hood their first child, Debra, was born. Eventually they moved back to Vol's home town of Westville, OK and their second child, Vol David, was born.
Donna volunteered with committees to start the local library and the medical center. She and her husband owned Woods Grocery and Processing for a short time. Donna retired from the Adair County Clerk's office after almost 20 years. She enjoyed knitting, reading, playing bridge, and playing with grandchildren in her free time. She was an intelligent, unassuming, and generous person.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother, Dean Braden and Vol Calvin, her husband of 59 years. Left to mourn her passing are her children Debra (David) Brown of Westville and Vol David (Tami) Woods of Tahlequah. Grandchildren Travis Brown and Trenton Brown of Westville. Tori (Dustin) Welker of Keys. Lexi (Ben) Catterlin of Fayetteville and Vol Colton Woods of Tahlequah. Great-grandchildren Adali, Emeri, and Colt Welker. Giavanni and Benjamin Catterlin.
