Betty Maedean (Wilcox) Sammons

Age 82, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born October 25, 1942 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the daughter of Paul Lee and Frances Maxine (Hester) Wilcox.

Betty graduated as valedictorian and class president from Bethany School of Nursing, demonstrating early on her dedication and leadership. Her career at St. Francis Hospital spanned various departments, where she cherished caring for her patients with a deep commitment and warmth.

Outside her professional life, Betty was a person of diverse interests and passions. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and enjoyed traveling extensively, with adventures ranging from the tulip fields of Holland to the scenic vistas of Switzerland. Betty also had a fondness for painting, jewelry, and was known for hosting gatherings for her close-knit group of friends, affectionately referred to as "her ladies."

Betty's love for life was evident in her vibrant personality. She had a wonderful sense of humor, often marked by her signature raised eyebrow, and maintained a positive outlook that uplifted everyone around her. Her spiritual life was deeply enriched by her love of angels, a testament to her nurturing and compassionate nature.

Remembered for her radiant spirit and loving heart, Betty leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to the service of others. Her life was a profound testament to the beauty of caring and the joy of giving, leaving indelible marks on the hearts of all who were fortunate to cross her path.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years Lynn Sammons; her son Trevor Sammons and his wife Rebekah of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her daughter Felicia Wilson and her husband Lyle of Fayetteville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren Flannery Laitamaki and her husband Alex, Zeb Wilson, Allie Hill and her husband Corey, Liz Maddox and her husband Mitch, Lydia Lester and her husband Derek, Hunter Lindsey and his wife Allie, and Kat Lovell and her husband Zane; five great grandchildren Callahan Hill, Kaley and Lucy Lester, Everly and Wylie Lindsey; sister-in-law JoAnn Swain; two special nieces Julie Meyer and Jana Harris and her husband George; five great nieces and nephews Blake, Rylea and Jake Meyer, and Dawson and Lucy Harris.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, November 25th, 2024, at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tulsa, Inc., 6102 S Hudson Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136.
