Tom and his family moved to California as an infant and lived in Whittier, California, until he was 57 years old. He dedicated his life to education, starting in 1960 as a teacher in the Montebello School District. He spent the majority of his career at Schurr High School teaching mathematics. Upon retirement, the Hannahs moved to Springfield, Missouri, where Tom taught math at a local college named OTC. After 13 years in Springfield, he and Linda moved to Wichita, KS with his youngest son Jeffrey, his daughter-in-law Barbara, and his two grandchildren Morgan and Emma. Tom had a love for music that was second-to-none. His favorite music undoubtedly was the big band era featuring Frank Sinatra. Tributes

You were the best father in law a person could ever have. I will miss you, and you will forever be in my heart. Love you, and I'll see you in heaven.
Scott - Son In Law

Dear Grandpa- I already miss your contagious laugh and your sweet smile. Thank you for always believing in me. My favorite memory of you, is all of the hours you spent tutoring me in all of my math classes. You always gave me the confidence to do well. I know someday we will meet again face to face. I love and miss you.
Melissa Condreay - Grandaughter

Tom, Although it has been a while since I last saw you, I still remember what a wonderful, caring, lively man you were. I'll never forget how you made Melissa and I's childhood so much fun. I loved coming to your home and hearing your wisdom. One of the things I think of when I think of you, is how much you loved your jazz music! That is definitely one thing we have in common! Your granddaughter misses you very much, and I promise to take good care of her. I know you'll rest in peace, and God will take wonderful care of you in Heaven.
Brittany 'atterberry' Morton - Melissa Condreay's Best Friend

No words can ever express the amount of love my heart feels for you. There are so many memories we shared that I could write a book. But one of the most fondest memories is of us watching the big band video with all of the great Glen Miller hits. I also loved being on your shoulders at Disney Land, listening to Dixie land music, and sharing an ice cream cone. I'm everything I am, because you loved me. A moment won't pass with out you in it. I will always love you.
Kerry Condreay - Oldest Grandchild

Uncle Tom, I have so many happy memories of summers and holidays at the Whittier house...you were the "fun uncle" :). I'm glad I was able to see you when I was in MO last year. You are missed. Love, Kerri
Kerri Wright - Niece

Tom, when I look back on your life, you touched so many people with your knowledge, caring, understanding and humor. Personally, you touched me in each of these ways. I'm going to miss you but I know I'll get to see you again.
John Collum - Brother In Law

I have so many wonderful memories of my cousin, Tom....his laugh, his love of music, all the times we spent together as kids, his smile; the list could be endless. He will be missed though we haven't been together regularly for years. He will always be in my heart...I loved him very much and look forward to seeing him again when we will all be reunited. I love you Tom, Linda, Debbie, Tommy and Jeff. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend his service.
Karen Begley Rose - Cousin

Mr. Hannah's sudden death has impacted all of us at Re-Bath; albeit not nearly as much as we know it has you. Personally, I will remember our small Christmas party in 2008. I visited and laughed with him nearly all evening. I have that wonderful memory. I know you have many! I am so sorry.
Linda Broyles - Re-Bath Of Wichita Employee

Our thoughts, Prayers and Condolences go out to all the Family at this Time of loss!
Tim & Madeline Herrell And Family - Friend

Tom, my heart is broken. You were an integral part of my life. I have so many found memories of the times our families spent together. You, Gary and Dick were more like brothers to me than cousins. We had so many great times and we had some very difficult times growing up. I always admired you as a geat Husband, Father and Grandfather. Your ability to teach math and your love of music was amazing to me. I remember the Cal Poly picnics with you, Linda and my Linda. God Bless your family. We will See you in Heaven! Love, Cody
Cody Begley - Cousin

Suzie Begley - Cousin

It is with great sadness that I write this, for I just found this memorial for my former teacher and tutor, Mr. Thomas Hannah. Mr. Hannah was in my thoughts recently as I reminisced about my high school years. He was my math teacher, and also my private tutor at Schurr High School. He helped me during a very trying period of my life, and I hoped to one day meet him again. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Tom S. - Former Teacher

Mr Hannah i never got to say thank you for passing me and believing in me and letting me read your sports page and joking about the ND sweaters i wore..telling me the Yuma joke and telling the class about the game when i beat Hart..i tell my kids that story. Mr.Hannah i went to Cal Poly Pomona i got my Bachelors in 1997 we did it Mr.Hannah ill never forget you
Joseph Ramirez - Former Student

Dear Mr. Hannah, Junior high and math were probably one of the hardest times of my life but you always treated like I was someone special even though I had to sit in the very last seat of class according to my lowest grade in class. I became a Christian when I was 18 so I'm glad I"ll see you in eternity. My condolences to all of your family and loved ones.
Gigi Jimenez - Former Schurr Jr. High Student

I was a student in Mr. Hannah's math class for ninth grade. I was a poor student in Math but I received my highest grade ever from him.
I was trying to see if he was related to a former congressman from Fullerton named Richard T. Hannah (they looked a bit alike!) but I guess he wasn't
Ellen Murphy - Student

Mr. Hannah was our 5th grade teacher at La Merced Elementary school in Montebello, CA. Yes 5th grade.
As I am now in my early 60's, I am looking back at who made a big impression in my life in my youth years. Well he did and I wish I would have realized this years ago so I could have Thank him in person.
He made upper level math so simple for many of us. We preformed a show of "Girl from Ipanema" And he was just a nice guy,
Thank You Mr. Hannah. Rest in Peace
